Yesterday was a blast out on Back Bay! Coach was talking to a new weekday warrior "Catharina" about doing 6 miles but I over heard them and wanted them to know that the schedule said 7 miles... we ended up doing the 7 miles and it was the first time Coach Paul did 7 in this location! It was a nice run and I felt good the whole way. I am actually not that sore from my 12 miles this week! I had to make a slight adjustment to my schedule that was on a few posts ago. Mainly because I LOVE running with people and I now have an opportunity :)
Yesterday Gwynne had to work and couldn't make it to the run! She was VERY MISSED by not only me but everyone from TNT who has began to know her! She is wonderful!!! She is planning on making it to the runs for Wednesday and Thursday so that will make for good times I am sure! Both Wednesday and Thursday I will be running with Coach Paul, Gwynne, and any other weekday warriors who decide to show up to the Back Bay location! Gwynne and I like this location for the scenery and cool breezes! A couple of things we both don't like though is the bugs and the horse poop smell!
So far I am at 12.05 miles this week and I would like to be at 30 by Friday before I leave for Vegas. That is the minimum of my personal challenge! I will try to post Friday to let you know how that panned out but I am not sure if time will be on my side to make a post. With all of this weekday running I am not tap dancing this week! But Friday I must go to the bank after my run and finish packing... all by 10am! So if you don't get a post on Friday I will have a LONG one on Monday or Tuesday letting you know the kindness from the Casino's we venture to, the food that was eaten, movies watched, bowling sweeps, and so much more that we plan on doing!
LOVE YA!

Ready
I am lacking motivation today. I ran yesterday as the challenge is on! I am feeling a little sore and I am REALLY looking forward to a 4 day weekend... Friday - Monday! Here is where I lack motivation.
Yesterday my beach run was scary! I hadn't done that run in a few months and it was nice to do that run! I love the scenery but the scary part was due to construction. I ended up running down PCH in the bike lane... all the time I prayed that no one would run me over! I don't like running on non-sidewalk terrain next to streets. After the run I did 4 loads of laundry and hung out with my hubby for a few hrs... just enjoying eachothers company!
I had a hard time getting up for work today but once I got up... I was fine! I love my job but I am SO ready for a few extra days off!
Today is 7 miles, I hope Gwynne meets with me and TNT! After the run I am going to go see my friend Donna and play some games... I should be home by the time Jeremy comes home!
I must get back to work!
I will update more manana!

So here is my challenge, I am supposed to run a total of 34 miles this week. I am going to try and fit most of this running during the week so I don't have to try and run a whole lot in Vegas! Here is my goal

- Tuesday - 7 miles along Back Bay with TNT and Gwynne
- Wednesday - 5.75 along the Beach
- Thursday - 7 miles along Back Bay with TNT (actual miles supposed to be 5 but hoping for 7)

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! He is Risen!!!
I wanted to start out with pictures fo me running 10 miles last Saturday!
1. Getting ready to finish the run.
2. Me in the beginning in the run
3. Acloser look at me in the prep for finishing the run...1 mile to go!
Now for the updates on training... I ran a fast 2.5 mile run with Jeremy and I showed him my increased pace! He was impressed, LOL! As a result my shins hurt and I used Icy Hot for two nights and iced them before bed. I did go to my tap class and enjoyed the dancing (aka Cross Training)! I took the rest of Thursday and Friday off and then ran a strong 12 mile run on Saturday, took a nap, got my hair cut, and then danced at Disneyland for awhile!
I really wanted to go to church today and my body was too sore to get up... so I laid in bed and watched some TV. Finally got up and made breakfast for Jeremy and I around noon! Today I am spending time with his parents for Easter and then I have my bowling league... only 7 more days until the season is over!
Happy Easter!
PS: I am leaving for Vegas for my bowling league on Friday so I will not be posting until either Monday or Tuesday. I get back on Monday but I am unsure of the time!

Melissa - Live!
I like the title... Gwynne picked it out!
As the day progresses, I feel more and more back to normal! In other words, my stomach is getting back to normal! Here is a quiz question:
I am not sore from yesterday, so I guess my body is either:
A. Getting used to this abuse
B. Didn't workout hard enough
C. None of the above
D. A and B
Answer... A
I ran yesterday with Gwynne and TNT people around the Back Bay of Newport! We kicked our own butt's! I wasn't feeling well and frankly I didn't really want to go out yesterday! Everyone their yesterday kept me and my thoughts in line! So a big THANK YOU to you all!
We both (Gwynne and I) thought we ran faster this week compared to that of last Tuesday! Although it is hard to say because we weren't aware of our actual time of departure and arrival like last week. Coach Paul had a great pace and we just couldn't keep up! So he said we finished about 6 minutes after he did. He finished his 6miles at 56 minutes which would make our time at roughly 62 minutes...
So Gwynne and I thought Right! Last week we finished 6 miles at 64 minutes and this week was 62 minutes! So the verdict is roughly 33 seconds faster per mile if my math is correct!
Way to go Gwynne, Me, TNT members out their yesterday, and of course COACH PAUL!!!!!
Tonight is my fundraising night at Rubio's... so I will be their for a while! As far as tonight goes... I may go running with Jeremy on a short 1.75 mile journey around our home! If I do that then tomorrow's Gym experience won't be as dreadful since I will only have to do 4.25 miles tomorrow! Did I ever mention how much I hate running at the gym... I DO!
This weekend I will be at training in Irvine and we are doing 12 miles! That is only 1.1 miles off from a half marathon... WHOO HOO!
Get ready, Set, Go...
Just kidding!
Peace out! mmmmmmmm food is only a few minutes away!
ok I am really going now... :::Bear Hug:::

Look at us go!

I will begin with a picture of me training two weeks ago! LOL!!!! I can't believe I am posting this! This is during our 8 mile training run and I am running with a TNT Mentor Lisa! She was sick that day and had 3hrs of sleep! I was keeping her mind of things by talking to her the whole way! Way to GO Lisa! She completed the task of 8 miles on meds!
I am feeling a bit better today! My tummy is getting back to normal from a bad food choice made a few days ago. I did end up running as scheduled yesterday with a 10 minute pace for all of my 6 miles around Mile Square Park!
I didn't get my rest as expeced... I guess! I to go grocery shopping and did 6 loads of laundry after my run and tap class! I did enjoy my tap class! I was alittle off mentally but physically feet performed ok!
Today I am scheduled to run 6 more miles but this time I am treading the Back Bay of Newport as mentioned in yesterdays post! After that I am making a trip to Target to pick up my newly released "Enchanted" DVD! Then I will go home and relax with the new entertainment! I love the soundtrack to the movie so I am ready to sing-a-long with the movie :)~
BABY BREAKING NEWS:
My cousin Rachell had her baby yesterday (St. Patrick's Day) She is just darling! My cousin now has three kids and they are all SO CUTE! She was born at 12:51pm and weighed 7lbs 14oz... and was 19 inches long! Welcome to the family... Ashlyn Grace! I love the name too! I will meet her this fall, if all goes to plan! I am saving up for a plane ticket to TN so watch out for crazy mel!
That about sums me up, until next time....

The Sums
Wednesday last week was like hitting a wall before even running! I was sore and just wanted to rest all day... I went to two jobs and then for my run around the back bay of Newport Beach before it got dark! I did 6 miles and OH MY, I was sore! I finished that and looked forward to rest for two days. I did go to my tap class on Thursday and I did well! My only issue was that my right calf was screaming at me!
Saturday I ran 10 miles in Yorba Linda with all of the Inland Empire/ Orange County Team in Training participants. We had about 300+ their and it was nice! I ran strong the almost the whole way and even passed Coach Paul! My only issue was that I had to use a port-a-potty at about 1.5 miles away to finishing the run! But I thank GOD for that availability because it would have been a rough finish!
Apparently I had consumed some bacteria and it caused my tummy to go SOUTH! It began at about mile 7 of the run... and continued to feel bad throughout the night and even on Sunday Morning. I did eat easily digestable food on Sunday and got out of the house to bowl in my league! I then went home and rested the rest of the night!
I went to a concert Sat. night and saw "Angels & Airwaves" with friends. Although I never heard of them before... it was entertaining! Jeremy really enjoyed himself :) My feet, back, body, and tummy were not feeling 100% but it was still good times!
Today I have alot going on so rest is going to be awhile: I am running 4-6 miles depending on how I feel, then I have tap class, and 6 loads of laundry! Then tomorrow we run 6 (Gwynne and I) with some of my team in training Coach and participants, I have to go grocery shopping and to Target, and then I have some time to chill! Wednesday is a will see day! I am doing a Rubios fundraiser that day so I will be smelling Mexican food for most of the evening. I think I am taking the day off from running and then doing a gym run on Thursday after tap! Like I said... we will see! I would prefer to run on Wednesday... but Rubios will take up alot of my time and it might be a tap --> then run day! I don't do well with those combos!
I forgot to mention how I feel today.... SORE! Where you may ask???? EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! I guess that is what to expect when you run 28 miles in a week... actually 4 days out of 7!
Thanks for checking in on me!

Sorta Sore
Well Gwynne was AWESOME yesterday! I am sure she is feeling a little sore today, I know I am! I am going to do 6 miles today and then no more running until Saturday! My muscles need a break and my hips are the most sore! I have been dragging this week... I feel like no matter how much sleep I get... I can't seem to wake up in the morning! Tomorrow I have to be up an hour earlier too... I hope this 8.5+ hours of sleep requirement can be met the next couple of days with getting up earlier than normal!
For those of you who don't know what type of person I am.... I am a DAY person! This means my peak is about 1hr after waking up and it lasts until around 10-11 pm!
It was a nice run yesterday and the TNT members are GREAT! I am so glad I chose this organization to do my first marathon with! I wish my friend Gwynne was able to do it with me though! I love her and the energy she brings!
I had a bad work day yesterday so the run and company I had after work really helped my mood when I finally got home and saw my hubby! It was just one of those days that everything that could go wrong, went wrong and although it was mostly small stuff... it just got under my skin! I must have said ARGH!!!!! several times yesterday! To top it off our water wasn't working all the time so we had to do a water faucet check before using the bathroom! That didn't help things! I think my main problem was not feelling 100% rested when I got up in the morning... again the sleep requirement must be met or I need to take a happy pill!
Enough of that... I have a new boyfriend (I think!) no need to panic... he is 3 1/2 yrs old! David is his name and he is our honored teammates twin brother! He was flirting with me at dinner with his parents. We went to Souplantation last night and they were so sweet to treat! I promised to treat next time! The kids are cute and Coach Paul and Diana are very sweet people! I hope they enjoyed my company as much as I did theirs!
Diana is also fundraising for TNT! If anyone wants to help her out that would be great! http://www.active.com/donate/tntors/tntorsDCooney
Well I will try to post again before the weekend so y'all will know how I am doing with the run today and the resting! I think resting is the hardest part of the training - believe it or not! I tend to get ancy and want to do something... hence the laundry on sunday, LOL!
~Peace

I can't believe my eyes...
82 Visits as of today! I love it that my cheering crowd for Team Melissa is getting bigger! Thank you for visiting and for your prayers! Wouldn't it be great to see my counter hit three digits!
zzzzzzzz that is what I feel like doing, LOL! I ran 6 miles yesterday around mile square park! Then I went to my tap class and most importantly I picked up the See's Candy orders from Mentor Lynn! So if you ordered See's Candy... it is here! Also I want to send a big THANK YOU to Gwynne for selling over $166 in candy for me in 3 short days and I want to thank all of those who bought Candy from me or my other teammates! I will be doing candy deliveries Thursday - Saturday - and Monday! I hope that it is all out of my home by Monday to lessen temptation for both Jeremy and I! We LOVE chocolates!!!!! Actually it was a good thing we bought about $25 of the chocolates for us to eat!
After my tap class I went to pick up the orders from Lynn.... I hadn't had dinner yet and it was about 8pm! Oh, I was so hungry from all the workign out! The chocolate fragerance in my car was sinful! Then Jeremy called me from his work so I can order him a calzone from Pizzarito! Aparently his last night Seinfield episode had a calzone in it and he began craving it! So I ordered it and then the guy asked if it was for carry-out or delivery... I said carry-out, then gave my phone number! He then asked for my name... I told him Jeremy (since he was the picker-upper)It was then the guy was silent... I wanted to say the sex change isn't complete and then hesitated because I don't want him doing anything to my hubby's dinner... I ended up telling him..."my husband is picking it up" since the awkward silence... I felt the need to explain myself! When he picked up the calzone... he also picked up two slices of pizza for me :) It was so nice to get a yummy dinner after such a long day!
I then organized about 34 orders of See's Candy and am now ready for the deliveries... I forgot to mention that my first delivery Renee (tap teacher)! She is on my way home and I know she likes chocolate just as much as me!
Today and the rest of my week looks like this:
Today is supposed to be a 4 mile run but Coach Paul said we may run 6 today! I am hoping for 6 so that way I can do 6 tomorrow and be at the 18 mile marker two days earlier than the rest of the faithful TNT trainee's! I have tap class on Thursday and I would much rather rest after tap then run on a treadmill.... Friday is my anticipated off day from exercise and then Saturday is the 10 miler and a concert at night... I am also trying to fit in some time with my mom before the concert and she said she will be at the training event in Yorba Linda so we will have a healthy lunch together and have some mom & me time! Sunday is going to be another day off from running but I plan on doing laundry, visiting with my friend Donna, and bowling for my league!
A note for today is that Gwynne is going to be meeting up with us TNT people and running 4-6 miles on our hilly location! She likes to wake up her muscles and I think both her and her muscles will be feeling it tomorrow! Wish her luck for today too! I love running with my friend Gwynne and am so happy she is going to be joining us today! I have her candy sales too!!!!!
Wish me luck and I will keep you updated on how today pans out and let you know how I am feeling after 12 miles in 2 days!
::Hugs to all::

I have fans!
Dated Feb. 9th... From Left to Right in the photo: Dan, Christina, Megan, Mentor Shellie, Michelle, Melissa, and ??? I don't recall the other girls name! I am so bad with names! Here is my support group for TNT! On this day we ran 2miles... and have come along way since then! Go Team!!!!!!!
WOW! I got 52 visits so far on my counter! Yeah... and my friend Alan is leaving comments that I totally enjoyed reading this morning!
Since my last post I ran on Thursday at the gym for 5 miles after my tap class... I had food envy that day and created a weekend of splurging on food! At tap I smelled bbq food and then at the gym I smelled IN & OUT BURGER! I went home and had some frozen waffles :( But on Friday I ate Pick Up Stix! Saturday was Olive Garden and Papa John's Pizza... and then Sunday Jeremy and I went to a late lunch at Claim Jumper! I am now back on track for this week and feel blah from the bad diet the last 3 days!
I did run 8 miles with TNT in Irvine... it was AWESOME! I talked to TNT Coach Gillian for a few minutes and then hit our first light about .25 miles in the running... met up with TNT Mentor Lisa, who I helped get her through the miles that day... she was having doubts since she took cold meds the night before and only had 3 hrs of sleep! I talked to her for over 7.5 miles and got her mind off of her doubts without even knowing it until the end of our run.
Saturday I saw Sally in the Riverside area... I also saw her/our friend Devra who did the LA Marathon last yr through TNT! We went shopping, ate at Olive Garden, and saw a cute movie "Penelope"! It is entertaining... but a one timer in book!
Overall for last week, I ran 22 miles out of the 25 goal! I was sore and tired yesterday... so I took it easy and did my laundry and went bowling for my league! I have a bowling hypothesis... I don't know why but since I have been running alot... my bowling has gone down the tubes! I guess it is a good thing for next season... I will have a larger handicap... as for this season... we as a team are about 50/50 on wins vs loses! I know my bowling isn't helping matters since I am about 20+ pins under my avg. So I am testing the hypothesis that running affects bowling, LOL!
Today is 6 miles after work and before my tap class tonight. I get off work at 4pm and have tap at 6pm... My two hour window is for my six mile run! Then I will go home, take a shower, and put on a movie... complements of Netflix!

The TNT training goal for this week is 28 miles My only way of meeting that goal is to run 6 miles Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and the 10 mile Saturday run with the team! This Saturday is also our Saint Patrick's Day bash in Yorba Linda.... anyone who wants to cheer me and my other teammembers on must drive to Yorba Linda... oh and be their early! The 10 mile run starts at 7:30!
I just checked my donation site and now I am at 1975 out of 2800=825 to go! Whoo Hoo! Thank y'all for helping me out!! I am working on getting more corporate sponsorships... I think I am going to hit up walmarts in my area... one person on my team got 3 walmarts to donate 500... she jumped 1500 in a jiffy! I will work on that this week :)!
In the future... I am thinking of doing another marathon but I want to wait and see how this pans out! I can join Team In Training (TNT) next season but instead of being just a participant... I can join as a Mentor... Mentors don't have to fundraise and still be part of the team. As a mentor you are responsible for 6-8 participants to make sure they check in and out before and after a training event. If they have questions you are their to help (since you already went through their program) and best of all you meet people in your area and make new friends :)
It is an idea.... my friend wants to join after graduation and if she does... I can mentor her... how cool is that!
PS: The best days for me to post is Monday through Wednesday as my weekends are jam packed and I don't have access to this on Thursday's and Friday's!
Thanks for checking in on me :)
Stay tuned for more details tomorrow...

Speedy Gonzales!
Yesterday I ran with coach and I was amazed at my pace yet again. Well early on in the run he stopped to use the restroom and I continued to run as he said he would catch up with me! I ran at a pace of 9:40/mile... per coach! He told me that last Thursday when he had to catch up with another teammate it was easier, LOL! Yesterday I made it a little challenging for him :)~
So overall we ran 5.23 miles and our pace exactly matched that at 52:30! So we ended our run with a 10min mile pace yet again! For me that is excellent and Gwynne could back me on that!
Today is auction day at Strutter's Ball Swing venue! I am bidding on my friend (also my best man at my wedding) against his girlfriend/my friend! Let the best woman win :)
Just kidding!
Anyhow I am a little sore but that is to be expected... I ran a GREAT PACE two days in a row with a total of 9.23 miles!
Now for a little support... I am asking those of you to help me out! I have worked a deal with Rubios (on Macarthur and Fairview) and if you have one of my flyers and go to that Rubios on Wed. March 19th from 3pm - 9pm.... then I get 20% of your transaction to go in my paycor account! It is that simple! Please help me out if you like Mexican food and are free on Wed March 19th! I will be their supporting me along with co-workers at 5pm-ish and then for a snack with my dad around 8pm-ish! Don't forget that you need a flyer from me to participate so e-mail me at melissapires2003@yahoo.com and I will send you a flyer! :)
Thanks again!
PS: Jeremy has the cold I had last week, pray he gets better so he can dance at the 24-hr Cancer dance-a-thon this weekend!

She's Back!
I am a little sore today! I am pleased to inform you that after five days of not running... I ran a strong 4 mile run yesterday. This is normal for me though... what isn't normal is the pace I kept! I had a pace of exactly a 10 minute mile... that a is 6mph run! Then I went home took a quick shower and headed to my tap class. I think I kicked butt yesterday, don't you?
So that is my SHE'S BACK report! I hope to keep increasing my pace and then I will have Gwynne running faster than ever before on our Sunday runs, LOL! Usually she's the one kicking my butt... that is why I call her IRON WOMAN!
Today is 5 miles with my TNT group and Coach! It is so nice to be running with them and also I get to see our honored teammate Jason Cooney both before and after we run! His mom is leading the TNT marathon walkers and has both Jason and his twin brother David in a stroller! They are great cheer companions... and their GO TEAM chant steals my heart!
~Peace

It just happens that way ~ Mindi Abair
Today began very interesting... I went to work and took my Mucinex DM which is like taking a water pill... but the problem with that is our bldg at work has no water which in turn meant no bathrooms... so I had to drive over to Carl's Jr. to use their facilities this morning, LOL! What a morning!!!
Well I am feeling better but still on meds as it helps me to breath and cough less! I do feel like my energy is increasing but still not 100%!
We are having Santa Ana conditions today and I really don't like to run in this type of weather but I will do it today and tomorrow as it is still preferred over the idea of running on a treadmill!
Fundraising Update! I know my paycor account/online donation site is still showing low digits... but don't you worry! I actually have more money than you think... Paycor takes 10 business days to process check/visa donations that I mail to them... Also a few for-sure donations are coming my way to be processed soon! So the actual figure is not $513 it is more like $1900! Can I get a Whoo Hoo! I am waiting on some checks coming to me in the amount of $850 to be processed early this month and then others that will be processed this week. SO KEEP PUSHING! I want to be done with my fundraising by April 15th! A tax day celebration :)
So keep an eye on my online meter as the figure should be accurate soon!
I will be running today around mile-square park in FV 4miles! Tomorrow I am running with Coach again and more teammates for a 5mile run! Then Wednesday is Cross Training and swing dancing as I am bidding on my husband's best friend as he is being auctioned off... I hope I win! Afterall, he was our best man 4.5yrs ago!

What a week!
Well Wednesday I caught a cold and that put me out of order on the running all week! I am going to attempt a run tomoroow so wish me luck! I have had a sore throat, sinus issues, headaches, and drowsiness! So today "Sunday" is my first day with a little energy so I did laudry and went to my bowling league this evening!
Saturday I did go to TNT training but left when everyone started to go running... they did 7miles! GO TEAM!!!!!! I wanted to join but was physically wiped out! I ended up going home after the Clinic on nutrition and hydrations by Coach Gillian! She did a great job on informing us of what to do and not to do! Nothing really new for me but others got alot out of it, I am sure! When I got home... I took some nyquil and went back to bed until around noon! Then I watched two NETFLIX movies 1. Becoming Jane and 2. Dejeeing unlimited (sp?) I was pretty drugged up so I didn't like movie #2 but movie #1 was better... I watched that one last! See I am still druged and not making much since, LOL!
Well today I managed to bowl three games and we our out of the running for championships... my games were as follows: 95-120-130 [my avg is 123] We one the second game and lost the first and last :(
Laundry is done... the rent-a-cat is fed... and I am signing out!
PS: rent-a-cat is Simba-Morris! He has been a loyal resident of my condo complex and belongs to no one... I feed him wet canned food as he is old and has a hard time with the dry food other neighbors offer him. His loyality appears every night as I pull up to my parking space he sits and waits for me to get out of the car and in the house for his dinner! I love meow-meows! So he is not mine, but I feed him! Simba is the name my previous neighbor gave him and others call him morris so that is why he is hyphenated!
OK now I am really signing out!
Jeremy loved his present and new addition to our house.... "Jabba The Hutt"! Happy 30th Birthday Honey!
