Monday Madness

Breaking News:

I am now technically a full-time employee. I have been working less than full-time hours as a bookkeeper/office manager for Woods Group Architects and have been asked to come on board with CenterStone Communities. The president for Woods Group is also a partner in CenterStone so I will be working 10 hrs for Woods Group and 30 hrs for CenterStone. I am so excited by this invitation and I know that God was behind this all the way as the pieces fell right into my lap without my knowledge! In this change I am gaining so much and I praise God for his works in this offering!

Yesterday was my sister-in-law's birthday... Happy 28th Birthday Rachel! We had a party which included great BBQ food and yummy strawberry cake w/ strawberries and ice cream! Jeremy and I ran 4.6 miles and I went bowling too! I bowled my highest game this season yesterday with a 163 first game and then I must have got cocky or lost my energy because my other games were down the tubes... with a 101 and a 93!

With my new work hours 8-5 Monday - Friday... I am going to stop working out in the morning as it is hard to get up at 6am, this means that as long as the sun is shining after work I will work out then... so 5:15-5:30 is when my runs will begin... Once I am done with my runs then I can hang out with all you fabulous people!

Today I am tap dancing... we are learning a routine to "Sing, Sing, Sing" which is a fast song... I really sweat during this series! On Tuesday and Wednesday I am running after work and then on Thursday I continue with my tap class. Friday this week is Fourth of July and Jeremy & I are celebrating at 7am with the HB race before the parade! Fun times are sure to be had! No set plans after the race so call us or me and lets wing it with fun times!

Recap of last weeks mileage accomplishments
  • Jeremy 4.6 out of 12 goal miles
  • Melissa 12.7 out of 14 goal miles

This week's goals are
  • Jeremy 12 miles
  • Melissa 17 miles

Happy winds-day ~ Pooh

I am well rested today. I went to bed last night at an early 10:30pm and woke up bright and cheery this morning at 5:30am... I actually got out of bed around 7am and then did a 4.5 mile run in the cool morning beach air.

The run was nice and the weather was perfect (in the 60s)! The heat wave has given us a break :)

Accomplished miles, this week (so far)
Melissa 8
Jeremy 0 (he is scheduled to run tonight and tomorrow)

We are running 6 miles on Sunday and it is supposed to be 85*! This will be his first 6 mile run, whoo hoo!

Yesterday I had a blast with my friend Erin! We went to the Huntington Beach Street Fair that takes place every Tuesday. We had a tasty hot dog and coldstone ice cream (birthday cake remix) ! The mixture didn't agree with me so next time I will try something else!

The OC Fair starts up 7/11-8/3 and I plan on going at least 3 times! I love fair food and the whole atmosphere! I will go once with Jeremy and friends, another time with mom, and another time with dad! The fun part about it is each visit is a whole different experience. My dad is all about the art exhibits, Mom is all about the shopping experience, and my hubby is all about the food! I love it all and it's so hard to fit it all in one day so spreading it through 3 days periodically throughout the span of the fair works great for me!

Running out of juice!

Yesterday was a tap only day.

I got to bed at 1am and then was up at 7am for my first morning run by myself in a VERY long time! It is so much more motivating when you have a team with you on morning runs. I beat the heat, lol! Actually it is just naturally cooler in the mid 70s today!

I guess getting up early and running on an empty tummy with little sleep can slow your pace down... I had an average pace of 10:50 today :P

The best part of running this morning is that I don't have to do any exercise after work! I am doing this tomorrow too but the good news is that I am going to bed early tonight!

I am not a night owl... Jeremy thinks I am turning into one because the last 3-4 days I have been going to bed late... it's been fun things... but I need to get back to my normal routine of 10ish!

Running achievements this week (so far):
Melissa 3.5
Jeremy 0

I am taking it easy on the running and only doing one activity a day. Yesterday was tap, today is running, tomorrow running, and Thursday is usually tap but this week I have a TNT mentor meeting... it's my summer break schedule until mentoring begins August 9th :)

I am so excited to become a mentor! TNT Coach Paul says I am in... I just need to attend the meeting and fill out the application like everyone else!

So. Cal. heat wave is still lingering...

I have to really pysch myself into the whole running thing with Huntington Beach temps in the 90s...

Jeremy and I went to Disney on Saturday and danced the night away... and sweated the night away too! Yesterday we ran 5 miles in 90* weather... and managed to keep (his) average pace of 9:18/mi. which is equiv. to 7 mph on a treadmill... I thought I was going to pass out from overheating, lol! I don't like it too hot or too cold... 70s is just right in my book!

Well he kicked my butt. I stayed with him the whole time, behind him though! His long legs was his saving grace! We did 5 miles and I told him the half marathon is like doing that 2.6 times... he knows that the 13.1 miles is going to be a challenge for him and TRAINING is necessary! He did really well running the miles on the schedule I gave him and this weekend we will get him up to 6 miles...

Helping him train for the 1/2 marathon will help me improve my pace. He is 6'2" and I am exactly 1ft. shorter than him at 5'2"! If I can keep up with his pace... I may finish the Disney race in 2hrs! WOW!!!! So he is training endurance and I am training at his speed... a win-win situation! I am glad the Pires Disney Challenge is not a competition anymore and we can work together to achieve our goals! It will be interesting to see how we do on race day, so stay tuned!

Last week we accomplished how many miles?
Mel: 13.5 miles
Jeremy: 11 miles

This week's goal is what?
Mel: 16.5 miles
Jeremy: 13 miles

We are continuing to dance 3 days a week and I am enjoying my bowling league on Sundays!

NEXT WEEK....

Is our first race together... we are running the Huntington Beach 4th of July 5K race... before the parade!

I will run my hardest short run while out there with hopes for placing in the top 10! I don't know what the competition will be like... it is a good goal though... I will update next Friday with the results and story!

Rough ride!

It is great getting back on the running band wagon, but it has been a rough ride!

Monday: I went to my tap class and had a blast and then I went shopping at Express. I bought everything on sale and used a $20 off coupon: 5 pair of shorts and 4 tops! Then Jeremy and I went for a 3.5 mile run... I had to take a walk break because my stomach was cramping into one BIG knot. Even though we had to walk some we kept an average pace of 10:58! The lesson learned on Monday... don't eat a Chipotle burrito bowl right before running, LOL! It was heavy and I didn't allow time to digest before treading on our run!

Tuesday: my stomach was still not 100% from the abuse I gave it on Monday! I ran 5 miles with Coach Paul at 5pm and it was a HOT 83* with little breeze! I was soaked by the end of that one and grainy to the touch from salt depletion.

Wednesday: was a day of rest... so I soaked in Erin's jacuzzi, we watched the movie 27 Dresses and ate dessert (rasberry/blackberry mix pie) with Vanilla Ice Cream! Call the press... Melissa actually rested, lol!

Today: I will go to my tap class and enjoy my last day of tap for the 11 week session and pay for my next 11 week session :) Tonight Jeremy and I will run another 3.5 miles, I hope we have a good run and a good pace!

Tomorrow is a rest day again... a mystery movie with my dad and dinner.

Saturday I may work on my pace with Paul! He mentioned doing track runs and I am just waiting for confirmation! Jeremy needs some running gear and we plan on hitting the sales racks for some cool gear for my hubby. We have dinner plans and Disney in the evening.

Sunday, Jeremy is going to run the Back Bay for the first time for his 4 miler and then it is rest time for me until my bowling league at 5:30!

Busy Bee... is sweet Melissa living up to the meaning of my name!

My friend Amantha is getting me the Wicked Soundtrack, how cool is that... I am so excited. Click on the link to learn more about the story! I have never been a HUGE fan of the Wizard of Oz... as it scared me to adulthood... I actually only saw the movie a couple times and I think I was of drinking age by the time I saw it the whole way through. So even ME... LOVED the musical! The vocals, set changes, and everything was Amazing! I had been very curious to see it and now I would like to see it again! Thanks to Amantha for making my curiosity a reality and for the great time we had!

Happy Fadder's Day!

Happy Belated Flag Day too... that was on Saturday!!!!!

WOW... 801 visits! Thank you blog readers... I never thought I would reach that number of hits! That is awesome!

Last week I accomplished 10.7 miles and if you have been following my weekly mileage over the past several months... that isn't much running for me. Actually I took 5 days off of running! I was advised by my head coach Darin to take a break. As you already know... training for a marathon is quite intense! On top of the lack of running, my tap dance teacher took the week off and spent some quality time in Yosemite at her parents cabin! Then on Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for my soon to be sister-in-law Mitzi and then went to see a musical at the Pantages Theatre called "Wicked". The play was awesome and made for a busy Saturday where no dancing occur ed that day either. For those who haven't heard about the musical... Wicked is a story from the Wizard of OZ from the Wicked witch of the West or East... I am not good with directions but it is one of those, lol! Anyway google WICKED and learn about it if you haven't heard of it before... it was Spectacular!

I didn't see my hubby for two whole days... Friday and Saturday of last week... so yesterday (Sunday) we spent the whole day together... it was very nice and relaxing... we went to his dad's house and wished him a Happy Fathers Day. I called my dad and wished him a Happy Fathers Day even though we celebrated it last month when I took him to see Mindi Abair! That was so COOL! I am not so traditional, as you can see... I celebrated mom's day on Thursday of last week and took her to BINGO! I was so happy that she won $84 that night... I think she had fun! She was in alot of pain from pinching a nerve and had some rough moments... but fun was had I am sure!

This week is back to running and dancing. Today I will be filling in the void of Tap Dancing that I have had missing in my weekly routing for well about a week now. Then tonight I will run with Jeremy a very nice loop around our house that is 3.5 miles. I made training schedules for us to prepare him and I for the Disney Half Marathon and we will start the training today!

Tomorrow I will run the Back Bay with Paul. Then on Wednesday I plan on hanging out with my friend Erin and we may go swimming or just sit at the pool/jacuzzi...relaxing hmmm!

Thursday is a mimic of today (Monday) with Tap and running 3.5 miles with Jeremy.

Friday I will have good times with my dad... see a movie and enjoy a great dinner

This Saturday we plan on going to Disneyland and swing dancing... we were thinking about trying out a new restaurant too (Karl Strauss Brewery)... well the restaurant has been around but we have never gone their before, so it is new to us!

Sunday besides my bowling league... I plan on starting Jeremy on long miles every Sunday until race day (August 31st). We plan on doing 4 miles this week and increase 2 miles every week until we hit 12 miles! He doesn't know of the details yet... he will thank me on race day and when he recoups from his first half marathon.

10 days after the race :)

I feel great. I ran 12.5 miles last week but on my Thursday easy run I did some walking!

This week I have completed 10.7 miles so far and plan on taking a break from running until Sunday. I will be cross/weight-training today after work and then going home to get some R & R. I have a movie to watch from Netflix so I think I will pop that in the DVD player and kick back!

Tomorrow I am going to play bingo with my mom and Fountain Valley High School! I hope I win so I can buy me some clothes that fit me! I have lost over 25lbs this year with all my running and my clothes are WAY TO BIG! That of course is a good thing:) Speaking of clothes... I went shopping on Monday with my friend Erin at the GAP and I actually bought two pairs of pants and they were a size 4! I don't Ever remember being a size 4 and back in January I was a size 12! See the need for clothes, lol!

Friday is movie night with my dad and it is his pick... I will be surprised... I am sure!

Saturday I am hosting a bridal shower for Mitzi... my soon-to-be-sister-in-law! Long word, lol! Then after that I will be going to a theatre and watching WICKED! It is supposed to be an excellent show and my friend Amantha and I are sure to enjoy it! Thank you Amantha for picking me to be your date! I am honored!!!!

Sunday, I have bowling in the evening, but before that... I am going to plan on running with Amantha in Irvine or Back Bay for some much needed miles that we need to accomplish... I think we will be doing 5 miles that day for a total of 15.7 miles this week for me!

Thanks for checking in on me...

until next time...
Peace!

PIRES Disney CHALLENGE

Well I am back to normal and running again. I ran 4 miles with the TNT Nike Team... going to San Francisco to do their first marathon... congrats to my friend Amantha who is on this team and raising funds for a cure! Then on Sunday I went for a run around my neighborhood for 5 miles. My goal was to complete it in as little time as possible... here is why!

I have been bugging Jeremy too no end about going to Phoenix Rock'n'Roll marathon and doing my second marathon through Team in Training... but this time I will do it as a mentor and I plan on finishing stronger than before... see my post "sea of purple"! It was a bad race from the go and I want to see if I can do better and end better... a personal goal and this course is supposedly flat and fast so I can try to beat my time and not end up in the medical tent! Jeremy loves me so much and has been worried about me since my bad finish in San Diego!

Update:

Jeremy didn't cave and he wants me to let everyone know this... we talked the whole marathon thing out this weekend I was worried that one or both of us could get hurt with that Challenge mentioned on Sat about whomever wins at the Disney Half Marathon... so he has agreed that I can do the marathon regardless of who the winner is at the Disney half marathon... it is still a race and I am still working on my pace to insure I kick his butt (with love of course)!

His reasoning and assurance with me doing the Phoenix Rock'n'Roll Marathon is that since Darin is going to be the head coach again next season and Paul will be the assistant coach next season. Jeremy felt comfortable that I will be in good hands just in case something does happen... IF for some reason my knees, hips or other body parts don't feel right, I have promised to step out of the marathon and do the half marathon... As he said he would have more respect for me making this decision than pushing myself into having surgery on something because of the pains! I haven't experienced much pain in my running... not like others have... so I have no doubt that this will be an awesome race... Jan. 18th!

Since I am going to continue with Team in Training and will be doing another Rock'n'Roll Marathon... I have decided to keep this site up and running until the end of January 2009 or longer!

Stay tuned on my Rock Star Running... signing off... Melissa Live!

Enjoy!

Recovered :)

See it doesn't take that long to recover... I am doing great and I am ready to run! I will be running 3-4 easy miles after my tap class tonight. It should be so much fun since my hubby and friends (Gwynne and Amantha) will be joining me on the run.

Tomorrow is a day of rest and then Saturday I am booked with fun things to do (Disneyland swing dance, TNT 4 mile run and cheering on the Alaska Marathoners as they run 12 miles, show of the medal to the Alaska and Nike runners, going to a garage/bake sale, and taking a nap) not in that order :}!

Monday I will start my own personal schedule for running and cross training to use until I begin mentoring for TNT in August!

I have signed up for and am running two 5 mile trail runs in Orange County (July 10th and August 7th) where their is an option of a shirt or BBQ food... I am opting for food, of course! Then its a half marathon for Disney on August 31st and the Stump Jump run in TN on October 4th!

Recovery continues...

I went in the jacuzzi at my friend Erin's house last night and it helped alot... I was able to stretch in their and I felt so much better!

Today I look less handicapped! I can walk up stairs with ease, although going down is harder... I don't have to hold on to the hand rails anymore!

Tonight I am going to hang out with Gwynne and then do some much needed grocery shopping... I hope to be home before Jeremy gets home from work so he can have dinner to eat!

Tomorrow I am running 3-4 miles with Jeremy, Amantha, and Gwynne... This will be my first run since the race... I hope I more limber by then. It should be short, sweet, and pretty easy. I plan on also running again on Saturday after I show my medal off to the TNT OC COAST Nike team! I think the schedule says 3-4 miles for that day too...

Have a great day... thanks for checking on me!

A Sea of Purple... The story of my Race!

I am going to wing this... brain waves are functioning better but not 100%, if this is confusing... bare with me :)

Wow, I told you it would be long and it is! BEWARE!!!!!

First thank you all for your support, prayers, and donations.... please know that if you couldn't donate I felt your support during the race. That is worth more than anything I could have asked for. It is because of the support, prayers, and the TNT crowd that I was able to finish my first marathon under 5hrs!

3:00 am... I just got out of the shower and got ready to go down stairs to the lobby! I had not one minute of sleep so I thought the shower would help relax me... my second one since I checked in to the room...

3:45 meeting in the lobby, sign in with Judy, and then off to the buses. I had no breakfast so Coach Paul was going to bring me a bagel, how thoughtful and sweet of him and his wife!

4:00am ALL you saw was a "sea of purple" jersey's.... mine was very popular! I had so many compliments and I was so happy it was a hit! I was told by others that they would have paid me to do their shirts, hmmm a good way to fundraise next time?!?

In the mix I was able to find a VERY important person... Krista Johnson! She is McKenna's Mom and McKenna is a HUGE part of why I joined TNT! When her daughter past away... I was so sad... although I never met her or her family, I felt like I had known them through her website that I had followed. I found her site from a Evan's site that I discovered once Evan had past away and I found it on my local YAHOO News.... her story drew me in to the caringbridge world! Back to the event... I found her... she had her legs written on with a marker... her left leg read "Angel" and her left said "McKenna" she was with about six or more others from Minnesota (her home town) and running her first half marathon in San Diego through TNT... They raised a total of over $30,000!!!! She loved my shirt and I showed her my back with her daughters name. If you are reading this Krista... it was an honor to meet you!

Bathrooms (aka port-a-potties) well the wait was around 30-45 minutes and with nerves... you get in line... do your business... and guess what? GET BACK IN LINE! So before the race my feet felt like I waited in the longest line at Disneyland and were sore on the balls of my feet.

6:15am we get in our corrals... I am in lucky number 13!

6:36am I crossed the starting line...

Let the rest be told below!

Race day was tough... as you read in yesterday's entry! We all struggled at one point or another... my struggle began when I crossed the starting line and began running on NO sleep! I have not had any side cramps in the first part of running in over 5 months but Sunday was different... I had side cramps from the start on my right side. I began slow and after about 3 miles into running the cramp would subside and then I would run my normal speed or better, I needed to make up some time from the rough beginning. At about mile 4 I was around a 10min/mile pace. At my half marathon point... 13.1 miles I had a pace of 10:34/mile, my best time yet!

I began my run with Kim and her friend Lindsey in corral number 13... they ran past me in the beginning but throughout the course we would see each other. I also saw Coach Paul on the course during a butt crack experience that I tried so hard to avoid... this guy was wearing elastic waist band shorts and his gu, shotbloks, or whatever it was inside his back pocket weighed a part of his shorts down so... my view ahead of me was his crack!

Lots of Elvis' on the course... I think they said 170+ both girls and guys dressed up, I saw a barefoot man while running on the 163 freeway... that was unfun due to the incline and running on unevenness (if that is a word, LOL), I also saw a clown and his nose squeaked... I cheered him on...

The weather was not in our favor... the sun came out around 9am and cooked us all! I am still sunburned and it is Tuesday! The weather channel said it was at a high of 67 and it felt at least 10 degrees hotter than that on parts of the course!

At one point on the course, I broke away from my pain by cheering on others I saw as I ran past them or by them... while most were just quick encounters, one stuck and I am thankful for it. His name is Glen and he is from the Ohio TNT chapter and he really helped push me to the finish. I was in pain and just exhausted at mile 20! We talked and he told me he was on his 9th marathon and was loving the people that ran in San Diego... much better than any other run he has done, including the LA Marathon and Phoenix Rock'n'Roll! So we left a mark on him, Great Job to us! He is a cancer survivor too and that really impressed me, considering his running accomplishments through his struggles... he thanked me/us for our fundraising efforts and well at the end I gave him a huge hug! At mile 19 we got otter pops at the TNT tent my head coach Darin and his wife Dione were at! I saw many of my fellow participants, but finished before them, so I haven't seen/heard from them since!

The last 6 miles were the toughest... I was done physically and mentally... but not really, because I had how many more miles to do, Yikes! I ran out of my Gatorade-water mixture and then relied on Accelerade and water that was on the course. This was my second slow-down on the race! My biggest slowdown occurred on mile 14 when I had to use the restroom... the wait time and use time changed my pace from finishing around 4:30 to 4:45 at that point. I tried to make up the time but it was no use. Once I knew that was untouchable... I stuck to my original plan of under 5 hours.... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!!!

11:39am I finished my first marathon... I hugged Glen from TNT OHIO and cried at the finish line... I must admit that I also cried when I saw mile marker 21-22-23-24-25-26 too... I was an emotional basket case!

I finished the race with no real injuries, but I needed medical attention and that was apparent. I haven't received the e-mail with my finishers picture on it yet... you will be the first to see it... please continue to check back... it may be soon or weeks... you/I just never know!

I have been known to be hypoglycemic (sp?) and some of those symptoms were apparent in how I felt. The Accelerade drink gave me an upset stomach (common when I have protein bars) I found out that they put protein powder in the drink... yep that was a problem for me! Sugar level was down.... I had some Jolly Ranchers and that helped a little. The lightheadeness and dizziness was partly due to most of my blood being in my feet... the medical tent staff laid me down and put my feet up in the air for 5 minutes and then slowly laid them back down... they usually do this once to people, then they get up and go.... NOT ME! I had that done twice... Jeremy was tired of waiting for me to meet him... he started walking around... I found him and then he was their with me under the tent... I had called him around 30min. before he made his way to the tent, he thought I was talking to my TNT friends, he was wrong and really was worried about me! The medical volunteers were so helpful. I ate ice chips and had ice cold rags on my head... unfortunately I also had shivers and shakes... so they moved me to the sunny area to warm me up... the shade made me shake too much.

While I was laying at the medical station coach Paul called and was wondering where I was. I called him back and ended up leaving him a message, which let him know that I was under medical watch... he ended up calling Judy (head of our OC Coast chapter) and under her is Head Coach Darin who was notified... they looked for me and were worried for me too... I never did see any of them or even make another call out to them as my brain was not 100%!

Once I was more stable I left the tent with a bottle of water and more Accelerade... we headed to the TNT tent to sign out... I had to make a pit stop (if you know what I mean) and then I sat down for a walking break.... finally checked out and started to head to the hotel.

The bus line was HUGE... I knew I couldn't wait in that line since I was feeling SO bad! I decided to walk 3/4 mile to the trolley to get to our hotel! Bad Idea!!! We past a REALLY long line for the bus and I had to take a break... I was actually next to the rail where the buses were parked and ready for loading... 2 assistant coaches saw me and talked to Jeremy on finding out how I was doing... they showed concern... One of their names was Melissa, just like mine! I can't remember the other girls name but they both were part of the OCIE chapter and said they had to help me. Melissa gave me her pretzels which helped me ALOT and the other girl gave me advise to put my bag of ice under my left arm, next to my heart... which also helped me ALOT... I don't know why but it did! Melissa then asked a person working the buses, if I could be put on priority since I was feeling really bad... and they did! THANK YOU so much for that Melissa!

We got to the hotel around 4pm and immediately went in our room, took a shower, and packed! I called Coach Paul and was just about to head out when the hotel phone rang... it was Dione (Head Coach Darin's wife) she then gave the phone to Judy and I let her know I was alright... but not GREAT!

We headed home and stopped at McDonald's for lunch... I had a very basic hamburger and soda... and my tummy tolerated it well, which was a good sign! We got home and unpacked... then we headed to my in-laws house and had a nice visit! I was up until about 7pm and the fell asleep on their couch.!

Around 8pm Jeremy woke me up and we headed home... but first I was hungry and needed dinner, so Taco Bell here we come! Two taco's and more sprite.... then I was off to bed....

I slept 10 hours....

Yesterday I went to work with my medal and then had my tap class and showed off my medal their too! Tap class wasn't easy but it helped limber me up a very little bit! I was wore out and exhausted afterwards.

My friend Paul (swing dancer/ 2-time marathoner) came over and I showed him the clip of me finishing the race... he was proud of me and understood all the emotions and physical inabilities that I was going through! Jeremy had made dinner for the three of us and we had some good conversations... until about 11pm.... I went to bed and then work this morning....

I am going swimming tonight at my friend Erin's house and I hope it makes my muscles feel better!

I am hoping for pictures soon from those with camera's on event day!

I am hopeful that by Thursday my thighs will feel better (the main thing that hurts)... I will go to my tap class on Thursday and then Gwynne, Amantha, Jeremy, and I will do a short 3-4miler around 9-10pm that evening... I hope I can do an easy run then! Otherwise I will just stay home at wait for their return... wishing I was out their running with them!

Stay tuned...

A glimpse!

One thing that happened was a migraine on Saturday... the meds keep me awake so NO sleep occurred on Saturday. I slept 7hrs on Friday and 10 hours on Sunday night.

Working on recovery! I had hydration issues that put me in the medical tent for around 30minutes. Then with the help of other TNT'ers I had 1st dibs on the buses (which would have been over 1hr wait) because of them asking and my feeling so bad with symptoms that included: dizziness, lightheadedness, upset stomach, nausea, chills, and shakes... to name most of them.

--------------------- Will Melissa do another Marathon? ---------------------

You bet! I will do another one in the future but not anytime soon! Jeremy was my witness to my post-marathon issues and he wants me to do easy runs like sticking to half marathons. He worries that my knees will cause problems in the future so to make him happy I will stick to half marathons or less. He is happy to know that I am doing only 11 miles in Chattanooga! I am also running a half marathon for Disney in August. I will do another one through TNT but it will probably be Rock'n'Roll Phoenix, AZ Jan. 18th (if he will let me) otherwise I will just mentor/train with out running the marathon and then mentor again when I get the GREEN from Jeremy that I have his approval/support for the next marathon I do.

Half marathon wise. I love beating my times... I did GREAT for the half marathon yesterday. I feel so much accomplishment from beating my time for the half marathon portion during yesterdays race... I have no brain so I hope this makes sense, LOL!

Whoo Hoo...
Also as I told Jeremy yesterday and today... I feel the same today as I felt on my first half marathon. But my body is used to doing half marathons now so I don't feel bad after them. The second half marathon was so much easier to do because I knew what to expect. I think my next full Marathon will be easier too, but pain is normal after those long miles.
The weather was not in our favor yesterday, my teammate Kim struggled, I struggled, and Coach Paul Struggled! But we FINISHED!!

More details will follow when my brain starts functioning normal!

Look for it tomorrow… I have high hopes for normal brain waves then!

Happy RACE Day!

It is June 1st and I set this blog to post at 3:30am (my wake up call), LOL!

If you are reading this and it is Sunday morning or around noon time I am on traveling along the red path in the map on the left! I will have left off in corral 13 of 21, if everything went well during my Expo experience! I will let you know exact information by Tuesday June 3rd, so keep a look out! :)

Don't forget to watch my progress live! That is right, Melissa LIVE is going to actually be LIVE and not virtually LIVE! All you have to do is go to Live Results and you can follow my progress online! My progress will be recorded at the 5k, 10k, 10-mile, 13.1 mile and 20 mile marks with updates to the LiveResults site every 60 seconds. Just visit the link, http://listserver2.eliteracing.com/t/5710/1574323/242/0/?u=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5ybnJtYXJhdGhvbi5jb20vaG9tZS5odG1s&x=285ca04d and click on the LiveResults bug on the home page during the race.

If that isn't entertaining enough, NBC will have a
Finish Line CamOn-Demand where you can watch me cross the Finish Line! For the first time, NBCsandiego.com will be providing "Finish Line Cam On-Demand." I will definitely being going to NBCsandiego.com after the race to see my finish too, of course it will be a rerun, LOL!

Check back with me on my post-race experience in a few days with pictures, hopefully!
